First lessons on PROMESS, July 2019

PROMESS activities started in June 2018, what are the first lessons for the first project of the PVSYST Foundation?

The project has not been formally evaluated, and it is still too early to draw definitive conclusions after just 12 months of activity. PROMESS has trained 45 apprentices (30 in initial training and 15 in continuing education), carried out several work-schools and is preparing to launch the selection of apprentices for the 2019/2020 year.

This first year has been rich in learning, and there is no shortage of challenges. Despite the project's relative youth, it is attracting a great deal of interest, with many players taking an interest in and following PROMESS. Among the elements that hold their attention:

  • The important and effective practical part, where learners are able to handle, assemble, test and troubleshoot on an almost daily basis, with a fully equipped workshop and plenty of teaching equipment;
  • Immersion through "chantier-école", where learners work in a real environment and on different projects, surrounded by PV professionals and teaching staff;
  • The inclusion of entrepreneurship training sessions linked to the technical curriculum, where learners learn the basics of business management as well as behavior, diction, posture with customers and working relationships.

The second year will also be an opportunity to make progress on the training evaluation system at all levels (reference system, trainers, learners), and to strengthen partnerships with local players.
