PVSYST Foundation visit to PROMESS, September 2019

Two members of the PVSYST Foundation travelled to Thiès in Senegal to meet the PROMESS team and take stock of the project's progress after one year of implementation.

Initial discussions revealed a dynamic, multi-skilled team with a strong sense of ownership of the project, and a shared determination to keep the project alive and growing. The discussions and visits were rich and instructive, and led to a number of observations:

  • The training formula, which combines theory and practice, is recognized as particularly relevant, and the training sites provide real added value to the training.
  • The general observation is that the demand for this type of training really exists on the spot, but it is difficult to mobilize 3 months of continuous training to participate in continuing education, and so it is necessary to test more appropriate arrangements.
  • The availability of recognized quality material can facilitate the realization of PV systems for former learners, which could constitute a source of income for the center.
  • Feedback is important: feedback from former learners, trainers, owners, etc. is important to collect in order to correct problem areas.

The PVSYST Foundation would like to thank the PROMESS team for their proactivity and availability in organizing and running the exchanges in Senegal, despite a very tight schedule.
