PROMESS collaborates with the Casamance region, February 2020

PROMESS is working with the Ziguinchor Departmental Council and GESCOD Senegal to diagnose photovoltaic systems in camps in areas off the electricity grid. The diagnosis was carried out on fourteen camps in 3 stages:

  • Condition of existing installations (equipment, level and state of operation, use)
  • Collecting additional needs
  • Costing of existing installations (balance of needs <=> production), upgrading and estimation of additional needs

Half of the diagnostic work was carried out by trainees under the supervision of PROMESS trainers, and the other half by qualified trainees living in Casamance over 7 days. This diagnosis enabled learners to come face to face with realities other than those encountered in the Thiès or Dakar basins.

On the whole, the plants visited showed major safety defects and sizing errors. So there are plenty of opportunities for our PROMESS trainees to cooperate with us over the coming months.
