      The objectives of GERES' mission<\/strong><\/p>\n

      In June 2023, GERES (Groupe Energies Renouvelables, Environnement et Solidarit\u00e9s), a French NGO specializing in access to renewable energies, provided technical training for CAMP Alatoo's trainers and the artisans involved in the scheme.<\/p>\n

      This training followed an initial visit by GERES at the end of 2022. The aim was to carry out an initial assessment of the situation, define the priority training needs of the craftsmen involved in the project and, ultimately, improve the quality of the insulation work carried out on the households concerned.<\/p>\n

      The mission came to a close in November 2023, with the restitution meeting with the Foundation's Board, and the delivery of the final report, the main elements of which are shared here.<\/p>\n

      On-site training for CAMP teams and craftsmen<\/strong><\/p>\n

      During this last mission, Marc Glass, GERES project manager for energy and housing, worked with the teams on several interesting techniques in the Kyrgyz context:<\/p>\n

      • Ventilation is an essential element, but one that is currently neglected by craftsmen and households alike;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Insulation of wooden floors, for which craftsmen had no solutions and which could lead them to refuse jobs;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

          • Insulation of interior walls, in the case of houses where the exterior finishes have already been completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

            A dozen craftsmen and CAMP's 2 trainers benefited from these training courses, which were carried out in situ with a strong practical approach. An initial 3-hour session clarified certain concepts concerning the 3 types of work.<\/p>\n

            The training then gave rise to a dialectical process, with some of the theory being revisited during practical sessions on the worksites.<\/p>\n

            7 homes were identified, each with its own set of problems. This made it possible to carry out 2 parallel projects on each theme, with the 2 groups of 6 craftsmen taking turns.<\/p>\n

            A comprehensive approach to training and information<\/strong><\/p>\n

            In addition, the training courses provided by CAMP for craftsmen entering the support scheme (courses on overall insulation) have been revised and simplified, and will be given to new craftsmen in phase 2.<\/p>\n

            This assignment also enabled GERES, in conjunction with CAMP, to redesign the information and awareness-raising brochure for families on insulation work.<\/p>\n

            The Foundation would like to thank the CAMP Alatoo teams for their support and involvement during the mission, as well as Marc Glass for his seriousness and his key contributions to the improvement of local skills and the success of the project.<\/p>\n
